Cable Capelet

Here is a quick and easy capelet for Barbie.  The dress shown in pictures will be in the next post. I used the stitch pattern from https://www.fairfieldworld.com/project/crocheted-cable-loop-pillow/.  There are more pictures there to follow if you need extra help following this pattern.  I took multiple pictures of the capelet on the doll, but could not get any that showed the stitch definition better.  The second picture shows best what the stitches looks like.

GAUGE

9 sc = 1" (measuring from WS, without loops)
6 sc rows = 1" (measuring from WS, without loops)

MATERIALS

Size 6 (1.8 mm) steel hook
Size 10 thread in dark grey

DIRECTIONS

NOTE: Even though piece is worked in the round, I still turn piece at end of each round to keep more easily to the pattern.

The loops that are formed will not be woven together until the last row, so make sure to keep loops all on the right side of piece as you are working.

Round 1:  Ch 64, join ch tog to form ring, being careful not to twist ch, ch 1, sc in each ch around, join, turn. (64 sc)

Round 2: (Right Side of piece) Ch 1, sc in first 2 sts, ch 12, (sc in next 4 sts, ch 12) 15 times, sc in last 2 sts, join, turn. (64 sc, 16 ch 12 loops)

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around being careful to keep ch 12 loops on right side of piece, join, turn. (64 sc)

Rounds 4-5: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join, turn. (64 sc)

Rounds 6-17:  Repeat rounds 2-5 three more times.

Round 18: Ch1, sc in first 2 sts, ch 12, sc in next st, sc next 2 sts tog, (sc in next st, ch 12, sc in next st, sc next 2 sts tog) 14 times, sc in next st, ch 12, sc in last 2 sts, join, turn. (49 sc, 16 sch 12 loops)

Rounds 19-21:  Repeat rounds 3-5. (49 sc)

Round 22: Before working this round, weave all loops together (take second loop from bottom and pull through first loop, pull third loop through second loop, and so on all the way to the top of piece). Ch 1, sc in first st, (sc in next st working through loop to tack it down, sc next 2 sts tog) 16 times, join, turn. (33 sc)

Round 23: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
