Lilac Shell Dress

MATERIALS

Size 10 thread in lilac purple
Size 6 (1.8 mm) steel hook

As usual, I did not work gauge, but I always use the same size hook, so if you have made anything from this blog before and the hook you used worked, use that hook again.

DIRECTIONS

Row 1:  Ch 45, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each st across, turn.  (44 sts)

Row 2:  Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.  (44 sts)

Row 3:  Ch 4 (counts as first dtr), 2 dtr in same st, 3 dtr in each st across, turn.  (132 sts)

Row 5:  Ch 1, sc in each st and in each ch across, turn.  (44 sts)

Row 6:  Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 3 dc in same st, sk next 3 sts, sc in next 7 sts, *sk next 3 sts, 7 dc in next st, sk next 3 sts, sc in next 7 sts; repeat from * across to last 5 sts, skip next 3 sts, 4 dc in next st, sk last st, turn.  (43 sts)

Row 7:  Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.  (43 sts)

Row 8:  Ch1, sc in first 4 sts, sk next 3 sts, 7 dc in next st, *skip next 3 sts, sc in next 7 sts, skip next 3 sts, 7 dc in next st; repeat from * across to last 7 sts, skip next 3 sts, sc in last 4 sts, turn.  (43 sts)

Row 10:  Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 3 dc in first st, skip next 3 sts, sc in next 7 sts, * skip next 3 sts, 7 dc in next st, skip next 3 sts, sc in next 7 sts; repeat from * across to last 4 sts, skip next 3 sts, 4 dc in last st, turn.  (43 sts)

Rows 11-14:  Repeat rows 7-10.

Row 15: (Increase row)  Ch 1, 3 sc in first st, [sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] across, turn.  (57 sts)

Rows 16-18:  Repeat rows 8-10.

Rounds 19-?:  Repeat rows 7-10 joining at the end of each round.  Fasten off.   I find it helpful to turn at the end of each round to keep to the pattern more easily.  Alternatively, you may continue to work in rows instead and sew the back seam.

Sleeves:

Join purple with a sc in underarm st, sc in each st to dtr of sleeve cap, [sc3tog] 6 times, sc in each st around to beg sc, join.  Fasten off.

Repeat for other sleeve.

Finishing:

Sew 3 snaps to back opening of dress.

Party/Bridesmaids Dress

This was supposed to start out as a "Cinderella" type dress, but the collar just did not want to work out for me.  Also, I was trying to hot glue a ribbon around the waist, but I did not like it, so I took it off.  But of course, a glob of hot glue remained that I could not get off so I had to figure out a way to cover it up.  I ended up gluing a bunch of ribbon roses to cover the glob of glue left behind.  This made the dress look more like a bridesmaids dress so let's just go with that...lol
