Diamond Lace Top

I decided to go ahead and make a top for the mini maxi skirt.  I also remembered why I rarely put sleeves on my patterns....lol.  If you are making this for a child you can leave the sleeves off as you have to guide Barbie's arm through the many openings in the sleeves.

MATERIALS:

Size 10 thread in aqua
Size 6 (1.8 mm) steel hook
2 sew on snaps

DIRECTIONS:

Yoke:  Make 2 (for front right and front left)

Row 1:  With aqua, ch 26, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn.  (25 sts)

Row 2:  Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.  (25 sts)

Row 3:  Ch 1, sc dec over the first 2 sts, sc in each st across, turn.  (24 sts)

Row 4:  Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.  (24 sts)

Rows 5-10:  Repeat rows 3 and 4.  At the end of row 10 you should have 21 sts.

Row 11:  Ch 1, sc dec over first 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts, ch 7, sk next 7 sts, sc in last 7 sts, turn.  (20 sts)

Row 12:  Ch 1, sc in each sc and ch across, turn.  (20 sts)

Row 13:  Ch 1, sc dec over first 2 sts, sc in each st across, turn.  (19 sts)

Row 14:  Ch 1, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc dec over last 2 sts, FASTEN OFF.  (18 sts)

Lace bottom section:

Row 1:  Join aqua with sc in first st of row 1 of right front piece, sc in next 14 sts, overlapping next 10 sts of right front piece and left front piece sc 2 fronts together, sc in last 15 sts of left front piece, turn.  (40 sts)

Row 2:  Ch 3, (counts as first dc), (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same st, *sk next 3 sts, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next st;  repeat from * across to last 3 sts, sk next 2 sts, dc in last st, turn.  (10 shells, 1 dc)

Row 3:  Ch 1, sc in first dc, *ch 3, dc in next ch 2 sp, ch3, skip next 2 dc, sc in space between last shell and next shell;  repeat from * across ending with last sc in top of turning ch, turn.  (20 ch 3 spaces)

Row 4:  Ch 3 (counts as first dc), sk next ch 3 loop, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc, *sk next 2 ch-3 spaces, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc; repeat from * across to last ch 3 loop, sk next ch 3 loop, dc in last sc, turn.

Rows 5-6:  Repeat rows 3 and 4 once more.  FASTEN OFF.

Sleeves:

Round 1:  Join aqua with sc in middle st of underarm hole, sc 15 sts evenly around armhole, join with sl st to beg sc.  (16 sts)

Round 2:  Ch 3 (counts as first dc), (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same st, * sk next 3 sts, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next st; repeat from * around to last 3 sts, sk next 3 sts, join with sl st to top of beg ch 3.  ( 4 shells)

Round 3:  * Ch 3, dc in next ch 2 sp, ch 3, sk next 2 dc, sc in sp between last shell and next shell. repreat from * around (no need to join as you are right where you need to be for next round).

Round 4:  Ch 3, sk next ch-3 loop, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc, * sk next 2 ch-3 spaces, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc, repeat from * around, join with sl st to top of beg ch 3.

Rounds 5-?:  Repeat rounds 3 and 4 until desired length is achieved, but ending with round 4.  FASTEN OFF.

Finishing:

You may want to do a finishing row of sc around top edges of top.  I did, but the top looked fine even without it.

Sew 2 snaps to back opening of top.

I've started crocheting clothes for Barbie too www.paperdollmom.blogspot.com
I was wondering if you know if basically all the Barbie dolls sold in stores to today are generally the same body? I have a bit of confusion on Barbie body types that are available today.
